Such a varied territory allows to satisfy any tourist’s taste. There are endless possibilities in every season including mountaineering, skiing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, canyoning and caving.
An athletic training or expensive equipment is not required for many of these activities . And there are many local organizations that offer support and provide everything you need to play these sports safely.
Gastronomy and local products
This land, though rough and tough, has always been able to offer incomparable treasures to those who have learned to respect nature. In addition to the renowned Spelt from Garfagnana IGP, and the chestnut flour (or “neccio flower”) DOP, there are many local products recognized by the Slow Food movement among which the many sausages (the Biroldo, Prosciutto Bazzone, Mondiola ) cheese, legumes, honey, and of course mushrooms, the true king of our recipes. Visiting these areas without taking advantage of the local gastronomic specialties is an unforgivable mistake.
